Worthwhile upgrade?

I have a 19" TFT, but Bioshock only allows me to play at 1024x768, and I am guessing the 2900 Pro would allow for the intended 1280x1024?

Should do, it may be worth considering going for a Core2Duo system but then that would mean a new motherboard and probably you'd need to change your Ram as well.

Well, I got the X2 for my Bday, and was going on the following calculations:

4000+ sell for £30
X1800XT sell for £60 (has the Accelero thingy on it)

Making the 2900 Pro cost £90

Actually, I could get a E1240, DS3R and 2GB DDR2 for £190

Sell my other stuff for £30, £45, £30, £50, making the upgrade cost £35.

I would keep my X1800XT though...

Doh, now I don't know, lol

It is up to you but either system would be decent, the X2 isn't a bad chip by any stretch, it is simply that Core2Duos tend to be able to clock a little bit better.

This is why I am umming and ahhhing.

I'm towards thinking that the move to the X2 and the 2900 Pro would be a sufficient stop-gap until next year, when I will then move to C2D, keeping the 2900 Pro...

Made the same decision as you on that one, I think my Opty X2 and a 2900 Pro should see me well into next year when I will do a complete upgrade.
