My system spec is in sig.

I am thinking of buying:

Gigabyte GA_965P_S3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £74.99
(£88.11) £74.99
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) £154.99
(£182.11) £154.99
Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail £182.99
(£215.01) £182.99
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 XT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £149.99
(£176.24) £149.99

Total £671.99 inc VAT + Delivery

I'm thinking if i sell my x1800xt, amd 4000+, Asus a8n-se sli, 2gb ocz platinum and arctic freezer pro i may get about £200. So effectively it would cost £470 to upgrade.

First question is, would my 450W psu that came supplied with my sonata II case be sufficient. I might try overclocking the cpu to 2.8ghz-3ghz if that makes any difference.

Second question, will i see 1) a big increase in overall speed and performance in windows? & 2) a big increase in games? I mostly play CSS & BF2.

Basically i'm itching to upgrade, but i need to justify the outlay of the money :D

If your wanting to get bang for buck then I would swap the E6600 and get a E6300 and match it with a Gigabyte DS3. With the money you would save then buy a better power supply. This would give you a better stable base to overclock on.

Just been doing some checking up and found this pre-built system. It is an almost identical spec to the one i am thinking of upgrading to, and is being run by an antec 430W psu. Are you sure my 450W antec psu is not going to be enough??

I'm confused

450w will be fine mate! dont worry

I dont think you would outlay that much money with that upgrade. Looking on ebay you can get 120 for the ram, 5 for the cooler, 50 for the cpu, 40 for the mobo and 100 for the graphics card.

I would go for the S3 (no difference to the ds3), 6300 and some 6400 ram!

Will be a very good upgrade! a lot quicker than the other system, especially if the 6300 is overclocked! good luck! :D
