Being a Gigabyte owner yourself, I would imagine you're going to stay with Gigabyte X48 Intel chipset, yeah... The only problem I have witnessed with Gigabyte motherboards are, compatibility with memory modules. Apart from that, they're sound boards. Will you see a difference in performance, yeah you will in gaming and overall performance. I myself recently changed from a P45 chipset to a X48 chipset and what a difference.

the question is do you need to do the upgrade.............all upgrades should show some improvement, but then we would continually rebuilding our rigs

The LT X48 is a fantastic board and clocks like a demon but it's only worth going for if you end up going crossfire and even then only if you have a pair of X2's.

If you want a new board then get this. That is an amazing price for DFI's top end P45 board. It usually sells for £16-170!! it's a far better board than the likes of the Asus P5Q series and has far superior cooling with it's Thermalright heatsinks.
