Hi,

I am in need of a new hedge trimmer as the one I have is underpowered and far too short. Saw this one on ebay that seems decent, but I have never used any Worx gear.

Or would I be better just going for a Bosch one as they appear to make good garden power tools.

Or anyone else got any other suggestions for a 500mm + hedge trimmer at around £50-£60 max.

Thanks

Bosch can't fault them, got one of their electric strimmers, superb, came with a 2 year warranty as does their hedge trimmers.
Prefer a well known brand like Bosch, compare to Worx.

Also look at the Bosch AHS 55-16 Hedge Trimmer, you can find it for roughly same price.

One question, what type of hedging you cutting.

Its just about 15-20 meters of privets on one side of our garden. Our neighbour has cut their side lower down as we wanted more privacy and the 'half' they have left for us to cut is over a meter wide, so it means i'm almost falling into the hedge over reaching with the little toy hedge trimmer.

It'll only get used twice a year so don't need anything industrial. The Bosch 16mm ones seem like the best bet then. I have a Bosch lawn mower and it has been great for years but thought i'd ask about the Worx one as it's a bit cheaper and seems a similar spec.

The only difference with the Bosch AHS 55-16 has a longer blade by 50mm.
I also got a Bosch lawn mower, has been well used, now nearly 10 years old, it's still going strong.
I myself prefer Bosch, because they offer a good warranty & your can get spares for them, whereas some of the lesser known brands, spares are almost impossible to obtain.

Went for a Flymo 60cm in the end as Tesco are doing a summer clubcard exchange, so my £40 worth of clubcard vouchers ended up as £80. They didnt have any Bosch hedge trimmers unfortunately :(, but this looked like decent one.

It's got 20mm spacings and a 500watt motor, so should even tackle the thicker branches. A pic of it compared to the one I was using lol.

Ended up costing about £33 for this and a Flymo 500watt strimmer :).

nothing wrong with worx, just steer clear of homebase own brand ****e, "powerbase" they call it, most useless trimmer i ever bought, broke within 3 months, was only used a few times, no wonder they always try and flog breakdown cover in that shop.

Had a chance to try the Flymo trimmer I bought and it's excellent. Both the blades move, so it cuts twice as quick as the other trimmer I had. Heavier, but nicely balanced and much less vibration and is also more ergonomically designed, so it's much easier to use.

It has that tell tale sound and motor smell that tells me it's not industrial, but it should be fine for the amount of use it'll get.

The Flymo grass trimmer I bought at the same time is also pretty impressive. I was expecting it to keep stopping when cutting the thick grass and weeds, but it tears through anything.
