Would 1.8-1.9v memory produce a lot more heat than 1.65v memory?

What system are you considering the high volt stuff as compared with the low volt stuff?

i7 main limitation is the voltage needs kept low so chip isn't dmagaed, not the memory.

That has proved to be not the case. Intel said 1.65v on the mem, so as not to damage the IMC. But it has now been found that as long as you keep VTT/QPI within 0.5v of the Ram voltage, it dosn't cause any damage to the IMC.
