Ok i'm building a rig for a friend and trying to save money for him... my dad recently upgraded from vista to windows 7, However it wasn't a package upgrade.... he bought win 7 in the box and now has a vista key spare.

If i installed 64 bit home vista on my mates pc would i be able to use the code from my dad's old 32 bit vista for activation?

If so does anybody know where i can get a 64bit vista home premium disk from?

If it is OEM you aren't legally allowed to use that copy of Vista anywhere else, though it probably wont even install anyway.

Tell your mate to get Windows 7 instead, it's worth it. The 32-bit and 64-bit versions work with one key, so yes, in theory you could do it, IF it's a retail copy, not OEM. You'll know as the retail copy you will have bought off the shelf somewhere and not got with the machine.

As for getting discs, I think you can get them from MS, but they charge for them.
