Hi lads,

I was just wondering, would a 350w psu handle a 1950? the cheapo ones of ocuk btw. As some of you may know i was heart broken about my beloved x800 dying on me, and need a new gfx card. Thing is , i am out of a job, and need to spend as less on a gfx card as poss - so buying a psu would be way too much me thinks...

Thanks :)

depends on the quality of the psu, to be safe check and see if it has a label on it, the 12V connection needs to have above 25A to be on the safe side.

This is what it said on the PSU :

FSP Group INC Fortron / Source

AC Input :220-240V
MAX DC Output : 350W (+3.3V & +%V = 130W max)

Its one from my pc world pc from 2 year ago, so im guessing it would be crap for the job?

Cheers :)

Fortrons were decent as I recall.

I ran a X1800XT on a 400w psu, and I think they consume more power than the 1950 pros...

Christ I hate pcs lol

All i want is a gfx card and now i have to fork out double for a psu :(

O well, its only money lol

What cheap gfx cards would be suitable for my psu on the bay? like a x800/x850/whatever? saves me shelling out more money ya see :)

I've got an X1950 Pro 512MB running in an Antec cube, which has a 300W PSU in it.

Haven't tried pushing it though with any games, I just had it spare and my Dad wanted a pc for office and internet stuff, so don't know if the extra power draw it would use if pushed would send it over the edge or not :)

If it's the one in the first pic that PSU is fine as it has dual 12v rails ...16a on one 1, 18a on the other.
