A Samsung Syncmaster 913B monitor and how good would the picture be?

Currently no HDTV, so in meantime if I fancy a next gen console id play it using the monitor (if possible) cheers.

Also, is 279 for console plus 2 games worthy?

Thanks

Thanks for replies

Im also speakerless, im assuming PC Headset works with the 360? and the mic for live? (Sennheiser)

hmmm

so i will have no sound unless i also invest in some speakers.....

though im happy that my monitor will give me quality 360 graphics

im getting myself confused here... would the live headset provide me with sound? or do i have to get a speaker system?

also what ports do the 360 use for sound?

The headset only provides you with voice chat (and some sounds in a few games) you do need speakers, for 360 you can either use Optical or Phono jacks

that puts me off then - i prefer headset for sound over speakers :(

why didnt they think of this when building ffs - not everyone wants a surround sound system, im happy having a headset on to listen to when playing

well i can plug my headset into my Z5500 control centre to play 360 with a headset if i want to, but theres no option to output straight to headset afaik, i dont think you can do that with any console

fair enough - thanks for all the input, much appreciated :)

still in my desperation to persuade myself to fund a 360, i come back with another couple of questions (if I may):

1 - Will the 360s sound cables (whatever they are) plug into my PC sound card (XFI Music) and then allow me to have my headset plugged in to listen to sound?

2 - If thats not possible, what are the cheapset speakers around that will work with the 360 and allow me to stick my headphones into.

i thought console gaming was mean't to be simple :P

The FAQ has turned up something interesting....

"What most people generally have is a single cable for their PC speakers, and generally only have the one connection. You have a couple of options. If you have your PC on all the time when you're playing on your Xbox, then you can connect the 360 to the Line-In on your PC soundcard and play the Xbox 360 sound via your PC. "

Does this mean.... (fingers crossed)....

That if the PC is on, I can plug my 360 sound cable into the Sound Card and get sound from my headset as that is also plugged into the Sound Card??

Or am I going along the wrong lines here?

If correct I am tempted to turn my back on Sony an get the:

279 bundle from Game (Premium with Darkness & FORZA 2)
- £20 game voucher
- £25 PS2 trade in
- couple of quid I get for other games

= £220

Leaves me to add either some essential hardware i.e. play and charge kit and maybe GOW / Dead Rising as 2nd hand - in and around 300 quid for the lot :)
