Would a AV receiver display LPCM on its display?

I notice my receiver only displays PCM via Plex streaming... I know PCM is 2 channel and LPCM is multi.... Worried than I'm only receiving 2 channel which isn't ideal with my 5.1 setup.

Is there some way for me check exactly what I'm receiving?

Checked the manual? On my Onkyo you can hold down the Display button I think and it'll show additional technical info on the LCD about what format audio it's receiving.

LPCM doesn't necessarily mean multichannel. SPDIF 2 channel is LPCM not PCM.
Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a method used to digitally represent sampled analog signals. It is the standard form of digital audio in computers, Compact Discs, digital telephony and other digital audio applications. In a PCM stream, the amplitude of the analog signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, and each sample is quantized to the nearest value within a range of digital steps.

Linear pulse-code modulation (LPCM) is a specific type of PCM where the quantization levels are linearly uniform. This is in contrast to PCM encodings where quantization levels vary as a function of amplitude (as with the A-law algorithm or the μ-law algorithm). Though PCM is a more general term, it is often used to describe data encoded as LPCM.

Underneath the volume level in -xxdB there should be a display of the the channels being output. It should be obvious if you are just getting stereo as it'd just show L R and subwoofers.

How many speakers is sound coming out of? Try a movie and the sounds will be different on each channel.
