Would a CPU upgrade make a difference?

I know this question gets asked a hundred times a day - I guess the problem is all the different CPUO/GPU combinations out there.

I have:
  • 4K 240Hz monitor
  • Asus Strix X670E-A
  • Ryzen 7700X
  • Zotac RTX5080
  • 32GB Trident Z5 6400 CL32 (running at 6000 CL30 for some reason)
  • By the way, I use Linux
I almost always use DLSS and will happily enable frame gen for the slower, prettier games.
Right now I'd like some extra performance in The Finals but I don't want this upgrade to be for the sake of one game. Over time I play all sorts.

I realise 4K will push a 5080 but would slapping in a 9850X3D make an appreciable difference?

For some reason my 7700X seems to sit at 90+ degC while gaming despite re-pasting and remounting my DeepCool AK620. I haven't noticed any throttling though.
I'd likely be switching to a Corsair 4000D Frame with a 360 AIO if I got the CPU upgrade.

The Finals benefit from the X3D cache, so you would see some improvement in average FPS
what you will notice more, is that the minimums improve significantly, giving a smoother overall performance

Playing games at 4k, the accepted rule is that the game is GPU bound and CPU has less impact on your performance. If you played at 1080p, the X3D CPU would have a greater impact.

However, if you are happy to buy new CPU, look up bench marks on YouTube, perhaps.
