Ok here some bad quality pics, bit shakey some of them - I'm too lazy to read the camera manual
Some of 2001:

Some of Jesse James (night scenes):

Some of Bioshock:

One of Mass Effect:

I'm no expert on LCD's or anything like that, only owned a cheap 19" Neovo beforehand, but I can honestly say I'm rather happy with this monitor. The size is just right for the corner of the room. Reading txt off the internet is now so much easier on my eyes, the Neovo seemed really washed out. Films look really nice. Games look amazing - I've just bought Bioshock again to play through as I didn't complete it the last time - I think I'm going to enjoy it. No dead pixels too!
The site I got my SM-2253BW from was really competitive so I took the plunge at £138 + £10 including next day delivery.
I was a little confused though as there seems to be two versions of the SM-2253 - the LW and the BW. It seems that the LW is a newer model to the one I've got, which is the BW. The LW is priced about £20-40 higher than the BW at some etailers I've been to, but at OCUK its the other way around weirdly.
I've read an old thread over at Hardforum and some people weren't too happy with their SM-2252BW's. They complained of a blue hue on the overall picture and that they got inferior panels apparently called CMO's, which stands for Chi Mei Optoelectronics, but these people were mainly in America, which makes a difference in what panel you will receive apparently. They also complained of some light bleed, which I've since read is common across a lot of Samsung panels.
I only read this after buying my BW and contemplating sending back and getting the LW version. Anyway in the end I opened the BW and instantly checked the panel and it appeared to be a Samsung (the best
). I've also read that the LW's use cheaper hardware than the BW's (from a poster who apparently read it in a forum from a guy who works for Samsung -
). I've also read people comments about the LW and theirs too has some light bleed so I guess it swings in round abouts.
About the bleed on mine, yes it is there, but only visible on a pure black background and its very slight, much better than my previous 19". I've read that cheap to mid-range TN panels (which is what this is really) all suffer from some sort of bleed. Only the newer panel technologies don't suffer from it as much.
Anyway I'm sure which ever model I'd bought (the LW or the Bw) I would have been happy. If your contemplating buying one just get the cheaper one I say like I did.
edit - Oh yeah the panel is supposed to have an 8000:1 dynamic range contrast ratio mode, used for films etc., but I haven't figured out how to turn it on yet so those films pics don't have it on.
Ta!
