I'm currently having silly thoughts about what to do regarding my next car.

I'm either going to pick up something older (made another thread regarding those options).

Orrr considering a Used GR86 via some sort of PCP arrangement.

I don't think this would be a mad idea, I see them at least holding value due to them not being produced for the UK Any more. But this also means they are probably more expensive than they otherwise would have been.

Last PCP I had was via my bank at a decent rate, but now the best they can do is 6.9% which is less appealing. Toyota main dealers is a whopping 8.9% so wouldn't bother there.

I think the car would be worth it, what do you guys think will happen with regards to the GR86 over the next few years?

Realistically PCP would be the only way to get me in one.

Had similar with my RS300 Mégane, had it on pcp for 2-3 years, got bored of it and sold it/paid off the PCP for just shy of what I paid 3 years prior. I imagine this car would be the same

I can't quite remember the specifics, but it was bought in May 2021 for £28,000 with like £3000 deposit.

Motorway then bought it off me July 2023 for £27,500 with my PCP settlement being £19,000 at that time. So more like 2 years, my bad.

Leaving me with £8500 back which I used for my current car. Obviously I paid 3000 deposit to begin with

(I think my old Mégane is for sale again now for £29k, dealer sold it, and pretty sure they ended up having it back)

Obviously ^man maths makes this SOUND better than it really was :D but In my head, it went well.

You probably ought to bear in mind you offloaded your last car at peak 'bonkers used prices' sort of time and so I wouldn't necessarily expect similar repeat performance, even with a limited sales car like the GR86.
Valid point, I do wonder where these will sit in 2-3 years time.

That's an awfully big assumption?

You bought your in normal times then you sold your old Megane during historic shortages or vehicles and an incredibly inflated market, i really wouldn't count on lighting striking twice here.

Look at what the GFV is as that'll probably be far FAR more on the money now compared to the lottery you won with your Megane
To be honest the market situation then Vs now, I was being ignorant of. You raise a good point and it's not something I would assume would strike twice etc.

I was more going on that the Mégane holding value due to them no longer being produced / end of the RS brand in general, and similar with the GR86 in that they sold for only 2 years then discontinued here in the UK due to a change in our safety regulations regarding the roof design or something like that.

The GFV is coming in at £13k based on the figures I was going on. I can seen it definitely holding that then some in 3-4 years.

I rarely see a PCP through mind. Every one I've done (only 2, tbf) for say a 4 year period, i have sold up/settled after approx 2 years and moved on
