Would a Q6600 be a noticeable upgrade from E6400

I've just bought Crysis and I'm worried its going to struggle. Will my CPU be enough to run in smoothly?

Will there be a dramatic difference moving to quad core in games?

I think it will be more related to your gfx card tbh, have a look at the crysis table in gfx card forum, gfx card effects it much more than CPU.

With regards to crysis i played with a 6400 @ 3.2 and an 8800GT 512Mb, then i upgraded my CPU to a Q6600, also clocked at 3.2Ghz.

Didnt see any difference at all TBH

i just did that, had the e6400 clocked at 3ghz and now have a q6600 at 3ghz and windows seems a hell of a lot quicker even tho its a year old build of xp, have yet to try games but im not expecting massive differences

quads are great if you are heavy into multitasking, even for general desktop use things are just always snappier than with a dual.

gaming differences generally no but then you can game and do other stuff at the same time so yeh there is still benefit there and recent Q6600's are great clockers so you have nothing to lose really.

Yeah i didnt say that desktop use in Vista stuff seemsd much snappier but i also upgraded to 4gb RAM so i wans t sure if it was the RAM or CPU that made windows seem snappier :)
