Would a q6600 bottleneck a gtx560 ?

But I take it i would see a marked improvement over my 8800gtx ?

Got a prime95 stable 3.1ghz overclock now, although it took 1.4 v !!!

just need £230 for a 560ti 2gb now ...

Yes it would. Just upgraded from q6600 @ 3.4 to i5 750 @ 3.6 so far. Using a 5870 which is similar performance to 560ti.

Bc2 would drop to 35 on some maps during busy scenes. Now it doesnt go below 60. All on 1900x1200 high.

AC Brotherhood would usually be around 40 walking around the streets, now 60 constant.

well i imagine at that res if there were any bottleneck it would be fairly minimal, you would still see massive gains over a 8800gtx.

+1, If anybody thinks it won't then they are kidding themselves!

On the other hand it's the cheapest way to get a performance increase but it definitely will be cpu bottlenecked.

but the thing is e.g if he were using a i5 760 i think most people would say it wouldnt be a bottleneck, but if he upgraded to i7 2600k would he see fps gains?
well yes so technically that would mean the i5 760 was bottlenecking.

i think looking at it, most high end gpu get held back or (see soem kind of gains with a cpu upgrade)

Saying it would be bottlenecked is true in comparison with newer tech, but it wouldn't hold it back so much that it wouldn't be worth doing. Take mine as an example; if I upgraded to an i5 2500k, the frame rate in a title might move from an average of 40 to 55, or even higher. It doesn't mean that the current frames per second is inadequate or unplayable, at least not in my experience.
