Would a "standard" AV Amp with "standard" speakers be better than a medium spec PC Speaker setup?

Just from looking at the specs, the Z906 has an unimpressive SNR of 95dB, probably due to using a class-D amplifier. I couldn't find a SNR figure for the YHT-1840, but going by the photos, it appears to have a decent linear amplifier, so it's probably better.

Most of the difference tends to be in the speakers rather than the electronics though. Unfortunately a cursory search didn't uncover any objective measurements of things like frequency response and THD, so it's hard to tell how good they are. Both use small full-range satellites with a subwoofer, all of comparable size. Given how unreliable maunfacturers' specs are, it's hard to say anything beyond that.
