My laptops ethernet port doesnt work so I am thinking of getting a USB ethernet port to plug in to a USB slot on my laptop, my question is does this affect the connection speed? Obviously I know it wont do anything to the actual incoming speed, but once it goes through the USB port, will there be a difference in speed compared to going directly to the laptops ethernet slot.
Would a USB ethernet adapter affect internet speed?

As ecksmen said it'll be drivers that'd cause the most issues and higher CPU usage.
I generally wouldn't use a "USB to whatever" converter since they tend to be cheap and bad but if you're just using it to connect to a router to the Internet then it should be fine.
If your laptop has a PCMCIA or ExpressCard then you could get an Ethernet version which would be better but more expensive.
