Would a wireless LAN be a viable solution?

I currently have 2 phone lines in my house. 1 is downstairs (for my dad's work), and one in upstairs in my bedroom (for general internet usage).

BT just sent me a bill for £208 (for the upstairs phone line), and at the moment that's quite a lot of money to me.

So basically I've decided to close my phone line and sort out some sort of wireless solution (feeding off the downstairs connection).

Problem is my dad refuses to have a wireless router in place. The data he has coming in is important, and he doesn't want wireless routers "messing it up."

Would a wireless LAN be a viable solution in this case? That way it shouldn't directly interfere with his incoming data right?

The only other problem is that there is currently a LAN setup downstairs to connect both the computers there. It's not wireless though. So would it be possible to have 2 LANs running out of 1 PC?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

If he's wired to the wireless router, then it won't make any difference to him.

£208 is steep - are you still using dialup?!

He's using a wired router, not a wireless one.

Nope I'm on the standard BT Broadband "I'm a muppit for choosing this service" Option 3
