would a XFX bronze 550 be okay for a AMD 290

I am just building a 2nd system, intel it 4670k , I have a spare xfx 550 bronze psu , would it be suitable for use with a AMD 290 , I know they say a 750 , but I have read that a good solid 550 PSU will do the trick...

The GPU PSU recommendations are so that people with cheaper PSUs don't have problems.

If you're not going to overclock anything, it will probably be OK. How old/what model is your spare 550W unit.?

Only short term when I had my R9 290 on my rig I was pulling 500w from the wall.

Maybe as both the CPU and GPU were overclocked and overvolted for 500w.
