Hi All
My son has a Xenomorph pre overclocked machine (i3-530 @ 4.2) which runs very well indeed. However I was wondering if I would lose the over clock if I put in another 4GB of memory.

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

You wouldn't lose the overclock but it might become unstable.

There's only one way to find out....

The safer option would be to upgrade to 2x4GB.

Thanks for that.
Presumably by keeping it at two stick of ram with a greater capacity means that voltages and timings stay the same.

Your suggestion to upgrade to 2x4GB may be the way forward - especially as it is quite reasonable atm

Cheers

Swapping the RAM entirely doesn't mean that the speed, timings and voltage will stay the same.

It depends on what you have and what you get.

It should mean that you don't encounter the adverse effects that filling all 4 RAM slots can have on the overclock.

As you say the only way will be to try it out. I suppose if it doesn't work I will be able to utilise the extra 8GB in my own sandy bridge i7 system hehe
