Currently running a 6400 @ 2.6 with 4 Gig of ram and a Radeon 4700, Windows Home Premium and 2 120 gig drives, no idea what speed they are just standard ones i think.

What could i upgrade to for reasonable money? I am not bothered about graphics as i rarely if ever play games its more desktop grunt and day to day zipping about, would also like more storage.

Montitor is fine so i guess I am asking about cpu and board as i am not sure about jumping to 64 bit as a lot of my older programs i fear wont work so if we stick to 32 bit. I also will only overclock if i can stay on standard air, i dont want huge sinks and faffage.

Whats your budget?

For £450 you could do an i7 upgrade. If you use a 64 bit OS your 32 bit programs should still work, we're not at exclusive 64 bit yet. If you want to stick with your current OS - 3GB ram with the i7 would still work great.
