... If o2 SIM ONLY deals can be used to upgrade handsets or not? - even if they are monthly contracts?

yea, thats what i mean, - although you dont get a phone, would they offer an upgrade of any type, seen as its a monthly contract?

If after 12 months of having the Sim Only contract, you got a handset from O2, you contract allowance would go down to what you'd get from a contract that came with a phone. So you'd sacrifice half your free minutes and texts for a handset.
