Would changing the RAM cause later problems

Hope I put this in a way that makes sense...:D

A pair of RAM sticks has to be returned (nothing to do with OC...) because one of them is faulty, but it occurs to me that I haven't yet tested the graphics card for my new build. So, I plan to do just that very soon, but of course to do this I will have to use the one RAM stick that is OK. My question is, if the gfx-card proves to be OK but I then remove the RAM stick because I have to return both of them to get either a replacement or a refund, would any mainboard problems arise later after installing new memory.

i wouldnt have thought so. the motherboard might beep at you when you turn it on with the new RAM and you might get a message on-screen saying some new RAM has been detected, but i doubt much else would happen
