Hey guys, as in title really, my system is as follows:
- AMD xp 3000+ stock cooling and currently running at 2.23ghz (400 fsb one)
- 1 gig ram (1* 512 dual channel / 2* single channel 256)
- FX5600xt ( doesn't really matter but meh)
- Asus A7N8X-E

I have a small fan, but no means of attatching it to the northbridge other than a nice bit of tape really. Would cooling it help? If i put my hand over it I can feel a substantial amount of heat being given off.

Thanks for any help offered :)

By the way I know it has been asked before but I would like to spend some money on a new socket A cooler. Are there any good ones about for around £15 or less. All the ones I have seen are quite expensive.

Don't bother watercooling the Northbridge unless you plan on voltmodding the mobo. Even then your mobo and CPU will probably hold you back.

your title "would cooling" looked like "water cooling" to me so i thought it was about watercooling your nb :)

anyways yes having a fan (i use blutac) or buying a new heatsink for the NB would be a good idea espically when overclocking with high fsb.

sometimes you can get 2 self tapping screws to attach to the h/s even without drilling might be worth checking .or use a bit of duct tap :)
best/easiest and safe in my opinion is to use silicone mastic to stick it on,obviously lay case/mobo down apply mastic allow to dry before standing vertical again :)

:o
OK, chocolate here misread the title.

Yes, use blutac instead of a mix of AS5 and epoxy.
