Would GTA4 run on this?

Runs fine on the rig in my sig with everything maxed out except textures which limits you to medium on a 512MB graphics card and view distance which is set so the GPU memory used is just with what the card has. Running at 1600x1200 30+ fps and 99% smooth, no hitching.

I don't see what the fuss is all about tbh, my rig certainly isn't the most powerful and it copes with the game absolutely fine.

This game seems to love extra Video RAM (so it maybe worth getting a 1Gb or 1.5Gb card if your upgrading it anyways), I have a 8800GT with 1Gb and I can manage 46fps in the benchmark.

Yeah the game has actually crashed on me a few times due to running out of VRAM (that shouldn't crash the game :( ) and that's on a 1GB card.

I guess it depends on how you define playable really. I'm running a slightly faster CPU paired with a GTX280 and I am able to play the game with View/Detail distance set to the lowest they will go, it runs at around 20-40fps (benches at ~43fps iirc).

I think this is the killer (gaming) app for quadcore CPUs, it's the first game I've tried where my 3.2ghz C2D is too slow.
