Hi guys,

I've been looking at upgrading my N95 8GB since before november, where I set my heart on a nexus S, until I decided to wait for MWC to see what was around the corner. It's getting to the point where I'm realising that waiting for these new dual core mobiles is going to be a bit of a stretch both time wise as well as cost.

I've been on a rolling contract on vodafone for years and in their eyes i'm a 'profitable customer' so they have offered me this deal on the white nexus S:

24 month
monthly cost: £25
phone cost: free
minutes: 600
texts: unlimited
data: 500MB

Total cost: £600
upgrade after: 21 month

My current usage is 250mins average, 0 data (don't have a data plan) and messages are neither here nor there really as it;s unlimited. I'm paying £15/month but it walways creeps up to £20.

I asked for a better deal with less minutes (300) but she said there was nothing in it at all.

The next best deal I can find is on Three, which would be a bit more of a chew on.
monthly cost: £25
phone cost: 99
minutes: 500
texts: 5000
data: 1024MB
Total cost: £699

I'm fairly happy with the contract they are offering; but I'm undecided on the handset - I'm never going to get a deal like that on one of the new handsets (galaxy S II, atrix etc..) but how likely is it that I'll be ripping myself off by jumping the gun on the nexus S and buying it when it's still one of the newest handsets out there?
I asked their sales rep and expected a sales rep answer but she just told me that the handset price does't change so the price contracts / deals are not likely to change int he next few months.

btw I really like the nexus S and have demo'd it a few times now. I'm unsure if it offeres the same community backing as the Galaxy does for custom ROM's etc though? can anyone confirm this? Also am I right in thinking that the white NExus S is exclusive to vodafone? I hope it's all the same hardware.

cheers,
Rick

Yeah, I agree with Robbo. It's about the average deal at the minute, they've recently lowered the monthly/handset cost due to the new dual core phones about to land.

If I were you, I'd hold off a little while longer and see if you can haggle a similar deal on the Galaxy S2. :)

So the price reduction I was looking for has already happened?

I'm now a little more unsure about the handset, I've remembered soem of the reasons that put me off not buying it back in december - no SD expansion, no 720p recording (may have been fixed by now) and no hspa+

but now I've come across something else - I heard that the NExus was going to hit eauropean markets with a version with a super clear LCD screen instead of SAMOLED - I'm wondering if this was true for the white nexus too??

The Nexus S has a 4-inch curved Super LCD screen.
I'm wondering if that's a typo or not. The vodafone web page for the phone is very vague with not a lot of further information. (look at the 'features' looks like they ran out of info!!
