Ive thought and pondered about starting to play WoW, would I enjoy it? or does it take a sort of lifestyle to enjoy it to the max? I work all week, 9 - 5 etc..

Are there any expansions for it, would I need them all?

Any info would be good

How many hours a day/week do you reckon you'll be able to play? Good thing about WoW is that it's easy to play only a few hours a week and make progress, you'll never be able to get in a top guild but frankly, so what?

Probably worth getting The Burning Crusade expansion as the Blood Elf/Dranei starting zones are so much better 5-20.

Depends what kind of game you like;

If you like PvE content such as boss raids, go WoW
If you like PvP content like open world fights, go W:AR
If you like a mixture of both, go AION

Though I've heard W:AR is dying off now, but I know WoW and W:AR both have 10 day trials, and AION has it's open beta starting very shortly (This month or beginning of next)

It is good but honestly if you have a job I would avoid it, if you want to play properly you need 4-6 hours a day to get the most out of it.

I played for 2 years and quit about 2 months before the lich king expansion, it just took up so much time and I didn't even really enjoy it that much for what I was paying. It gave me some of the most enjoyable gaming moments in my life though, dungeon runs with a good guild are marvellous.

I would say that the game is super good for cauals now. It is stupidly easy to level and now you can gear up super fast, with dungeons easier and loot far quicker to obtain.

Basically original wow is all you need, and will take you from 1-60. The Burning Crusade will get you to level 70 (and add the outlands, which is an entire new mini world if you like, as well as give you the option to be Blood Elves if horde (and so paladins on horde side) and Dranei on alliance (and therefore shaman class on alliance side).

After that is Wrath of the Lich King - which will allow you to level to 80, and raid the "end game" content. (as well as the large north rend area)

Once you hit mid 70's you can do most 5 man dungeons for gear, you will then get to 80's, and do heroic 5 mans (which give you epic gear, and badges to buy even better gear than that) and probably naxx 10 man (super easy now - gives tons of gear) then ulduar, and trial of the crusade.

Overall, you can get to 80 pretty easy. If you ask for class, a paladin or Druid are great options because they can do everything (druids can even fly without a mount, can stealth like a rogue, can DPS long range and short, heal and tank). But be what you like.

Need info on something more specfic, feel free to ask :)

You can play it however much you won't, you can pick it at pretty much any time, although at times it can get pretty engrossing and can see you spending a lot of time on it. It's about £8 per month i think, or it was before i quit a year ago. There are two expansions, Burning crusades and Wrath of the Lich King, you don't need either until you hit level 60, which could be a fair while.

Also, it's definately mainly a PVE game and not so much PVP game, so it depends largely which your interested, if its the former i'd go for it, if not i'd give it a miss.

In hindsight i wouldn't play it.

Played it on and off since beta and finally stopped a few months ago. For the most part I enjoyed my time in WoW even if in retrospect there were times when I played a bit too much.

There really is a lot of fun to be had with the game and if you havent tried it you might as well give the trial a bash. There are plenty of guilds that cater to casual players that'll help you find your way around and with quicker levelling and earlier mounts it'll be easier than ever to progress without having to commit a massive amount of time to the game.

It really depends on what type of gamer you are. I've been playing MMO's for donkeys years now, more than i care to remember and WoW is just one of those games i can never seem to get into.

I enjoy the leveling aspect of it, but find it rather short and wanting unless you do it with friends. don't take that in the wrong light though, i'm a sociable person in games just more so for PvP. The main reason i find the PvE side lacking is that it is simply too easy for my tastes to reach max level, the worst gamer in the world would find it easy but i think that was the goal. To top that off the game is pretty much over when you do hit the cap unless you enjoy raiding the same dungeons over and over which honestly wouldn't be as off putting if it wasnt so mind numbing easy and quick to reach that stage.

Another negative is the community, it tends to be very elitest without foundation. If yuo play it with friends then that aspect would be like in any other MMO... the community can go to hell because you'd have people you enjoy playing with there anyway.

If you enjoy pitting your skills against other players then it's not likely to be the game for you, but if you don't mind endless quests for gear Vs predefined encounters then you may like it.

What can i say... just because a game is popular doesn't mean it is good. We all have opinions on what is good ;)
