Ive got the option of a cheap remap on my 320i e90 through a friend of a friend. It has 150 bhp now and 200nm, the remap makes it 165nhp and 220nm aparently, will i actually notice any difference as i have no experience with motors. Cheers fellas:)

When I had my old 325i chipped I certainly felt a difference. Never had the power checked but I'm pretty sure the difference wasn't more than 5% extra. The difference was that it felt better throughout the rev range and removed some flat spots. I suppose it depends exactly how cheap it will be, and is it reversable for when you want to sell it on.

Peak power is irrelevant.

If they will be sorting the fuelling across the entire the rev range then yes, probably worth it for a more crisp throttle response.

but the money. 150bhp 320 has to be the e36 right?

dont bother, save the chip money and spend it on the difference between your car and a fast one

go mental, find a 260bhp 330 engine, then charge it

cheers guys, it was only £200 down from £300 ish but i aint gonna bother due to the warrenty being void if it gets clocked by bmw. Ile give it 9mths untill it runs out.

Related question but kinda of hijacking.

Is a 7% increase in horse power and torque going to be noticeable if i remap?

Thanks in advance.

Most changes are noticable the day you do it, but most people just adapt to it very quickly and take it for granted (unless we're talking silly power, lighting up the tyres etc). Unles you've got something to regularily compare it with, ie you drive a standard one, you'll most likely just get used to it in no time.

IMO ;) My bike's up about 20% on stock, but it doesn't feel any stronger now than I remember it as stock- but if I ride a standard one, I keep stalling them because of the lack of low end power, and it always feels like I'm in the wrong gear. But then I'd just get used to that in a few hundred miles too I'm sure.
