if i added a sound card:

SC-043-CL Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music - OEM (SC-043-CL)
£48.50 £48.50

would the sound be any better than my karajak thing that came with my mobo? also would i be able to connect some of those wires that came with the case for the front headphones & mic?

cheers, alec

You probably would notice a difference, but it seriously depends on what speakers/headphones you are using. With a set of 2.0 PC speakers costing £20, it wouldn't be worth doing. The card should be able to connect up to the front panel sockets yeah.

Well some decent speakers would also be on my list, along with zalman reserator 2, preferably my budget would be £100 for the sound card above and some medium 2.1 or good 2.0 speakers. any ideas?

If you've got £100 for speakers and a soundcard might I reccomend buying the Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 and finding an Audigy 2 soundcard second hand (around £15 usually). Unless you really want some of the X-Fi's features, your better off spening a larger portion on the speakers; and the Aego's are highly regarded.

I'm not totally sure, but probably, unless the Karajak is especially good (in which case you may not need a soundcard). If it is quite standard, the Audigy will be better yeah; with EAX and other soundcard features aswell as higher resolution output.

with the oem version of the sound card what exactly is it missing as in whats the difference between this and the retail version?
