Would installing a backplate on a GPU void the warranty? (Specifically MSI)

I know putting waterblocks/backplates on EVGA cards doesn't void your warranty, but what about the other card manufacturers like MSI, Gigabyte ect.
(I don't have an MSI card, I'm just curious) :p

It wouldn't unless the card came with security stickers on the screws or side. I asked MSI if I could install a waterblock on my 680's and they confused the heck outta me with the answer but basicaly said "If you break it, tough luck but go for it"

Just make sure you are carefull and you will be fine.

Also, I noticed the MSI 680 Twin Frozr III has another "mini" heatsink underneath the main cooler to cool the power delivery stuff. Would this mean that you couldn't put a backplate on it?

MSI and gigabyte are cool with it as long as you don't destroy the card doing it and can reverse the mods.
