would it be silly to sell my Q6600 that runs happily @ 3.4ghz my abit ip35pro crossfire MB and the 8gig of ram so I could then go over to AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G and Corsair 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit
Or just keep what I have until prices come down.

I use my PC mostly for games these days I do some home video editing and some database testing, but I have another pc for that kind of stuff,
there is so much out there I wonder if the q6600 has been left way behind.
Thanks
Dean

I'm not planning top change my Q6600 until (cheap) Octocores are out, it's that good.

Yep the Q6600 really was ahead of its time in a way, it'll probably end up being one of the longest lifespan gaming CPUs for quite a while.

why did u want to make the change?

if it was for usb 3 or sata 6gbs then you could buy a controller card to do this

apart from that or the ddr3 ram i cant see why u would want to change!

well it was not so much for me I jsut wanted to no, the problem is my father pc is an abit ip35 with 4gig sli and Dual-Core "LGA775 Core 2 2.2ghz it is a Exxxx not sure
when I bought my q6600 from ocuk £140 my fathers proc was under £100 so would the ungrade to AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz (Socket AM3) Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AMD 880G and Corsair 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Dual Channel Kit be worth it

In most cases Phenom 2 performs about the same clock for clock as the Q6600...so as stated, it wouldn't even be an upgrade.
