Would saving up for an i7 rig be worth it? Or should i wait until next year for the new i7's and better DDR3 ram i.e better latency's.

With your current rig, you wouldn't notice a massive improvement, but that was the situation I was in as well and I just went for it

Basically, if you have the cash and fancy treating yourself, do it.
