Would like help on a new computer.

Hi, I would appreciate any help on getting a new computer. Basically, my current system is little more than a lump. I want this new computer to last for around 5 years ranging from £500 - £600, using it mainly for gaming. I was looking at the "Titan Krypt"

However, I'm not sure if this computer, most likely being overclocked, will live as long as I want it to. Then there's the options for graphics card upgrades etc which I don't even want to think about (I'm a hardware noob)

Also, I'm wondering whether or not I should buy individual components and try build a computer myself, but I'm afraid I'll blow something up.

Ideally, I would prefer a non-overclocked system, or at least not to the extreme, to prolong the life of it. But any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

people will strongly advice you to build it yourself, its generally cheaper and more fun.
the chances of you blowing something up is 0.1%, theres a really good stickied guide on putting a system together.

will you need OS,monitor, peripherals?

The above "Titan Krypt" has a warranty with the overclock, so you are protected.

If your worried about building yourself then buy a complete system like that and then do simple upgrades in the future.

As for the choice of graphics cards for that system, the GTX460 is very quick.

Thanks for the fast replies! Just had a quick scan over the build guide link, and it scares me, but, if it saves a lot of money, I guess I might try it. Do the hardware bundles, found here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/LP/bundles.php
have everything needed for a build? Because if so, they are a big save. I am doubting if I can build one myself though, I've never tried before, how difficult is it? I do need the OS, but I'll just use my current peripherals and monitor. Also, are there any other places that offer good quality packages or bundles? I would like to consider as many choices as possible. I'm posting here because overclockers do have very good deals and a good community, much more than any others i've found.

Wow, Thanks for the video links! Didn't realise something as in depth as this would be on youtube! With all this help, I reckon I have a fighting chance of doing this, but as I said in my first post, I'm a complete hardware noob. Could anyone suggest a build that would fit around my price range of £500 - £600, keeping in mind I would like a long life and use the system for gaming? Thanks for the posts guys, the help is really appreciated.

and you want an operating system.

Are you interested in playing games, or building computers?

If you just want a decent platform to play the game(s) of your choice then a prebuilt machine with a whole machine warranty is the easiest option.

If you have an interest in the hardware side (and this forum is heavily skewed in that direction) then you can save some money assembling a PC from components.

Or even if you have zero interest in hardware at all, you can put in a few hours work and save £50-£100 or get a better system for the same price.

Yeah Stulid, that's exactly right. I'm not looking for a high end beast, just a decent system. Yes, I could probably save myself a lot more effort by buying a prebuilt system, but I suppose computer building is always a useful skill to have, and by building this one, I would have some starter experience. Prebuilt is still not out of the question for me, but if I can find package or bundle of suitable hardware, why not give it a go?

That's not bad at all! Actually, that's damn near perfect for me! I basically copied all this,

but changed the HDD to a "Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache"

the PSU to "OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply"

And of course, the windows 7 included. I'll just scavenge the optical and any fans from my current system, they should work! It comes up to like £660, I might try to shave off a couple of pounds if I can.

After learning the difference between IDE and SATA (yeah, noob), my drive's IDE, which means I probably have to buy a new drive right?

Could also save a little more by dropping the cpu cooler, no point if you dont want to overclock. Even if you change your mind in the future the stock cooler isnt exactly worthless, it can cope with clocking up to 4ghz no problem.
