Would like your thoughts on a case mode I am thinking about doing

Yes, it looks like a good idea. I had to double check which was the original a couple of times as it looks for better, and certainly more natural in to second picture!

The second one defininitely looks better but neither look that great to me, not a fan of the look of that case at all.
