It seems I get a fair bit of lag in my games. I am located 3 floors above our family router (brand new dual antenna) Netgear router.

Would I benefit from a PCI-E wireless card from OCUK?

personally i doubt that a pci-e card would help becuase it is a ping issue, not a bandwidth issue

have you connected it straight to the router to see if it is your internet connection to the house and not the wifi?

Is there no way of moving the router to a middle floor (to try and even out coverage)? Or is there other equipment wired up to it?
Or a wireless extender? Or if you have an old router try setting it up as a repeater (Model and firmware allowing)
Or one of the power line things.
But checking it wired would be a good starting point as it would be pointless doing this if its not the signal thats the cause.

Yes
Across that distance, moving from a G to an N will make a massive difference
As others have said that's not to say your lag may not be from elsewhere, but I'd still be going N anyway, unless you can route cable which would be even better

+1 for cable. For a long time i was stuck with a usb adapter, (netgear wpn 111). Horrendous piece of kit, overheated a lot and kept dropping the connection. Bought a pair of homeplugs but they wouldnt work at all. So i went with a very long length of cable, hid it below furniture and carpets/mats. Wish id done it a lot sooner tbh.
