Hi,

I am thinking about buying OS X tiger, Its not really clear that if you buy the dvd you can install it on intel based pc's. So can you?.. Hope you understand lol thanks!.

Unfortunately, Apple OS can only legally be run on Apple Hardware - i.e. imac, macbook e.t.c.

So, simple answer is no but google around and... :x

OSX can only legally be installed on compatible Apple kit. Also bear in mind that retail boxed copies of OSX 10.4 Tiger are PowerPC only. The only legal way to get a copy of OSX for Intel is to buy an Intel based Apple Mac.

like me :) but would set you back £1799 :(

If you want a Tiger, buy one in a box. ;)

(No, I don't mean but OSX 10 in a box, I mean buy a Mac, I really shouldn't of needed to make that clear, but someone would have poked sticks at me. :p)

Apple have a massive financial interest in OS X only running on their own hardware. Not to mention OS X is not designed to cope with the vast array of hardware like Linux and Windows.

It will never run on main stream PC hardware.

No it won't. The retail boxed version of 10.4 is PPC only, as all intel macs ever made come with Tiger pre-installed.

pssshhh, was refering to title with the response don't you get it??

Thanks, I have gone to vista :rolleyes.
I guess M$ ripped off most of OSX's features and put them into Vista so it will be similar  :(

edit: is it me, or is there a thread of this nature at least once a month?

But in a half-arsed way that require large amounts of hardware to be thrown at it.

It's more like a thread a week. Maybe there should be a sticky with "IF YOU WANT TO RUN OSX THEN BUY A MAC" as the title.

Yeah, there was and it was my fault. i got shot and berated by ppl and a few Dons. Just didn't realise that legally OSX could only be run on apple hardware - but now I know, and lookign back it;s pretty obvious really.
