Would sli still work ok if....

as above, should be fine as long as it is the same amount of VRAM on both cards.
Any way SLI quite often has some issues - nothing major but sometimes anoing ;)

Even with VRAM differences you should be able to SLI them, you only get what the smallest VRAM card has available

Oh and OP I have had a lot of fun on the RSoBB BFBC2 server/s :)

Ty dude

Oh cool, well feel free to come back and visit again soon, will be having our 64 man conquest server going live on launch day (hopefully, barring any snags), and others shortly after :)

GTX460's have not only different size of memory but also different GPU architecture, and 768MB has less bits in memory bandwidth - so it is impossible to run GTX460 768 with GTX460 1GB in SLI - it won't work for 100%

RE SLI with different memory sizes - its a bit hit and miss and seems to depend on something in the cards firmware... i.e. in the past I've had an 8800GT (512MB) working in SLI with an 8800GS (384MB) (long story short one of the cards was mis-packaged and had been flased with wrong firmware and I had them setup and SLI enabled before I realised something was wrong) - but I've also tried GTX460 SLI with different memory sizes for someone more recently and it 100% didn't work.

Regarding SLI compatibility. I've only looked into it because of this thread and I can't see a chart anywhere like this for NV cards

Thats because SLI pretty much locks down which cards you can SLI with what to cards that have the same core revision - which most of the time means the same model. Theres a fairly good reason regarding microstutter why this is done.

Here you go.

SLI: COMPATIBILITY
For some time, SLI was very specific in relation to the type of hardware that could be used. Cards had to be from the same manufacturer, have the same BIOS, same clock speeds; essentially identical. As driver complexity progressed, the limitations have been relaxed greatly. In order to clear up any remnants of confusion that may still linger, here are some pieces of information regarding the procedures for installing cards to be used in SLI: they must be from the same family and be the same model (GTX 560 Ti, GTX 295, 9800 GT, etc.) and must also have matching memory capacities. The cards do not have to be from the same manufacturer, have identical clock speeds, or have matching VGA BIOS versions. The rule used to be that the slower card had to be installed as the primary device, but this is no longer so; the graphics cards can be run asynchronously while in SLI without causing any negative effects in performance or frame constancy.
