Hi, im going to be buying a new rig in about a month when i get back from Oz.. but although i can put one together im not savy on all the latest stuff.

i have a couple of questions....

i will be getting the Dell 30" but wanted to know if anybody knows when and if dell will be updateing this monitor... like.. more connectivity like the 24" and better brightness uniformity.

as for the spec, i have around 1000 - 2000 to spend on just the sytem (not includeing the 30").. and it needs to be good enough to run latest games on the 30".. so.. .as best as i can get really. what do you guys reckon?

also, if i make a day of it and come down to overclockers (quite a way from home) and buy it all in one go, would it be possible for me to put it together there to make sure it all works... cos all the sytems iv ever put together iv had to take at least 3 peices back :(

thanks heaps guys!!

That should do the trick. If you're going to overclock the E6600 then you should get about 3.5GHz on it. It's got cross-fired X1900's so it'll handle that 30" monitor easily, or you could get a single Nvidia 7950 GX2. I put in two hard drives so Windows and other files can go on the 80GB, games and media stuff can go on the larger 320GB.

Here's a cheaper option. It still rocks aswell!

The first spec is pretty much the best available. You could buy Raptors but they'll be noisy as sin.

is that the best Grfx available?.. i mean.. .. if i buy in a month? anything new?

is that physX card worth getting?

and i think id like to add a nice sound card with remote.

plus a good keyboard and the copperhead mouse.. but that not really important right now.

i think id liek to go with the reserved good looks of that black antec p180 case.

do you think its possible that i could construct it at the shop?

thanks again fellas :)

There's nothing new out for a while so you'll be safe there.

The physics card at the moment is a waste of money, there's not enough support for it and seems to hamper performance on the games it does support.

I don't know if you're able to construct it at the shop or not - try sending a webnote to ask

oh, ok... iv sent a note asking.

um.. i think ill go with the first setup posted (thanks fenderbass)

plus a soundcard

but.. whats the best / diffrence between having the to x1900 crossfire 512's and the new 7950 1024mb???

the 1400 :) although i could nock a lot of if i went for 7950 :S

also i might bump the hdd up to 500gb.. but then again if it broke thats a lot to go down :o so i might be safer with what you suggested.

{snip}

I'm afraid the P5B Deluxe is based on the 965 chipset and so doesn't support crossfire. You'll have to get the P5W DH Deluxe and the bios upgrade if sticking with Asus.

if you are going to be overclocking then I would recommend this mobo instead...
