Hey guys,
sorry for my dumb question; would the following GPU (GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Extreme) be strong enough to push the PG279Q ROG Swift 27" ?

I have been running a dell 24" ultrasharp since 2004/5 and most recently a MSI 6950 2Gb GFX and would like to upgrade for BF1 etc and Photoshop. I think there should be an improvement.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Regards
G.

depends upon game settings, current cpu, and which game you're playing

Hi Lude, Sorry i should have added, I7 4770 @ 4.6Ghz 1150 socket / 16Gig Ram
Will be moving to BF1 ... and R6:Siege.

I'm looking to purchase both the Monitor and GFX card in the OP, Thread.

I think some games might struggle to hit that 165 fps if you are silly with the settings...

I run 1440p 144hz with a 1080 and occasionally there are drops below 100 in some games. Of course with Gsync this isnt really something you will notice. Just thought it worth mentioning.

I don't think you've got any real chance of staying near 165Hz for Battlefield 1. Not even with a 1080. But the Hertz limit will allow your GPU to fully stretch its legs.

Yeah plus FPS players normally turn down their settings to get rid of all them annoying effects getting in the way :)

Thanks guys, the 165hz isn't a hard target I want to hit all the time, every time, It would be nice though... I'm looking for an investment, and the research suggests the above mentioned products would be good, but I had no idea if they would compliment each other.

:)

Whilst I'm here, any reason why the Asus PG279Q is £130 more expensive than 'other' suppliers? I tried calling OC to find out but was on hold for ages :(
