im looking at what current bundles there are and at what expense for the current climate if not just a typical pricing and im looking at both ryzen and intel, but maybe an APU till graphic cards are fundable.

im getting together a part list for the purpose of gaming via xbox game pass and the odd steam games, but nothing that should be too demanding id have thought, but i do know APU needs fast ram just dont know how much the gpu vram is limited too.

thanks for replies.

yeah i did think 32gb would be too much, but i have never had 32gb ram nor a standalone ryzen apu, so i wasnt sure how much it would use, but if they are capped at 2gb vram then yeah its a big expense for no reason. im not particularly looking for an APU, ive only started back on pc because i just got the game pass ultimate otherwise i just play ps4, however i am trying to find a gpu for my dell and have lost out by a quid or two on the bay recently already and these are older cards, but im only looking at that route till my laptop sells.

i havent had chance to test some xbox games out yet that would need more than a potato to run ha, so i dont know what ill be able to get away with in terms of gpu options.

thanks for replies. i guess then if i do find a decent priced APU bundle with ram options then i will select the fastest 16gb on offer. even if the 32gb ram option had the same sorta speeds/timings it will still be wasted if the gpu wouldnt have an option to see above 2gb going from what every is saying.

Popping the 1030 on your old machine may be the best option if you just want to go a few game pass games and don't really need more cpu power or modernised system.

well that was an idea i had as i have been looking at the older generations and missed out on an R7 250/hd6850 for 2 examples, obviously cards like the 6850 and so on would required a psu upgrade sooner rather than later. the xps was given to me from a family memeber and see no reason to part with it, nothing has been replaced since it was new, just gpu, ram, ssd upgraded that i did. but as i am going to build myself a new gaming computer i will max best the xps as much as possible in the mean time.

Trailmakers runs fine on current config, classic doom and fivenights at freddies obviously do, TSW also runs reasonable, Among Us as expected, Rocket Arena runs okish on low which so far TSW and Wreckfest along with Rocket Arena have been the only 3 games ive run that pushes the system. ironically Wreckfest auto detect puts the graphics at a custom of high/ultra/medium/low/disabled which i have had to put all on low to get Any attempt and this is at 1600x900 which is the current screen i have connected.

my system meets the minimum of wreckfest minus the gpu as it obviously doesnt have gaming performance especially compared to the gtx 460.

Trailmakers
classic doom
fivenights
TSW
Rocket Arena
AmongUs
Wreckfest
Flight Sim
Horizon 4
NFS Heat
SW Squadrons
City Skylines
Machinarium
Simcity

are really the only games between game pass and EA play im going to play/attempt to play on the dell until i can build a better system.
