Would this Mushkin memory be a better alternative

Yes, the Mushkin has lower latencies and will be faster.

How does the price compare?

So far I've only found pricing for an 8GB kit but it's around £20 more than the Kingston 8gb kit so I would assume it's also around £20 more than the Kingston 4gb kit?

A lot to do with the pricing is the low voltage. These things overclock like mad by overvolting as well. Review here.
