Would this be adequate for overclocking an E6300

A wealthy friend of mine donated his spare EVGA 680i to me last week (as reward for helping him with various PC related issues). Therefore, I decided now was the time for well needed upgrade.

Planned on obtaining a E6300 to compliment the aforementioned board. Would this memory be suitable for my (mild-ish) overclocking needs?

I'm pretty poor at the moment, so the cheaper the better really.

Yes. The GeiL is a really nice kit, as the the equivalent OCZ for the same price.

You should get good results with the Geil.

btw, I want friends like yours. Despite hours of helping my friends with their PCs/Laptops, I've only received heartache. :mad:

i would have advised against the Geil, as i've had bad experiences with this similar to many others in that it wouldn't run stock speeds on stock timings, so i RMA'd and just got some Team Xtreme and never looked back!

My geil wouldn't o/c in the Asus 650i board, however, I do hope all goes well for you.

You really want Micron chip based RAM for overclocking, but the cheaper stuff runs at stock fine.

As the 680i can run the FSB asynchronous to the memory, just by any PC6400, leave it at stock and overclock the CPU independently.

Oh, well, I can cancel my order or change it for something else...

I've really been out of the loop for too long now, so my knowledge is somewhat lacking. Do you have any sub £150 RAM suggestions for decent overclocking? I've read some bad things about clocking the bus indepedently of the memory on a 680i. Argh, I would have gone for a DS3, but beggers can't be choosers!

Running fine on mine, but admittedly my FSB is still slower than my RAM.
