Currently i have and MSI K9N Neo (nForce 550) motherboard with an AMD X2 6000+. I never jumped onto the Core2Duo stuff but it looks like i should have done (they still kick butt, right ?). So im semi-serious about changing over now, but id like to hear what you guys thought. I was thinking of chaning them with these -

Worth it ?

Unless you really want Sli go for a P35 chipset board such as the Asus P5K series. If you must have Sli then go for a 7 series board. The 6 series is getting on a bit now.

The E6750 is outclassed by the new Wolfdales now. The E7200 is a cracking cpu and overclocks very well.

Exactly, the 6 series are really bad boards overall, terrible overclockers. Intel boards are far better for overclocking, and generally nicer, the only reason to buy an nvidia chipset is for sli.

The E6*** range is old tech now, the E8*** range is on a 45nm process, so it is around 10% faster clock-for-clock, and they run cooler. And have more cache as well.

I thought (or at least used to) that nForce was the best chipset to go for ? If thats changed then ok then :). How would this one do ?

Gigabyte a good brand ? I dont really know much about who makes the best motherboards. Im also not an overclocker, i just keep everything at stock for no nonsense. Also the proccesor, so the E8200 is a much better buy ? By how much ?

Hello Ogs, in all honesty, I don't think you really need to change the processor you currently have. The AMD 6000+ is by far, no means an outdated processor and will still perform very well in things like games, multitasking etc. :)

It's a good board but so is the even cheaper Gigabyte P31 DS3L.

If you are not going to overclock then there's little point in upgrading. A AMD 6000+ is no slouch.
