Hi, I'm thinking about picking up an GTX 480. My CPU at the moment is a 955 X4 @3.6GHz

You should be fine in most games. It certainly won't be significant if there is one.

You can get that cpu up to 3.8 without breaking a sweat. I would know because I have the same exact cpu as you and I run mine at 3.8Ghz 24/7 and have been doing so for the past 3 months; and no, you won't be bottlenecked by your cpu.

ive got the 955 as well. can you tell me something plz. what is your voltage and your idle temps?
