Dont get 4x 1GB sticks. Get 2x 2GB sticks. Ideally something better than kingston value ram too.

already got the ram.

No it wouldn't.

Now I have your attention.........Core i7's 900 series work on X58 motherboard only!

Core i7's 800 series works on P55, H55 and H57 but are best suited for P55 as that's the platform they were designed for (Core i7 800 series don't have onboard video so there's no point in getting a H55 or H57 chipset). Core i3 and Core i5 500 series and 600 series can work on P55, H57 and H55 but are best suited for H55 and H57 as you take advantage of the onchip graphics adapator (even if you don't intend to use it its handy for backup purposes) and the only board that have video out are the H55 and H57.

If you plan to do any sort of overclocking it's advisable you use Core i3's on H55 and H57 as they don't overclock very well on the P55 platform. I would tend to think the revese is true as well Core i7's 800's (and Core i5 700 series for that matter) won't overclock very well on H55 or H57 either.

thanks for the help.

^^^ oops. Well done - I didn't notice that 3 go up to a 7 :)

needed a bit more pow for 3d modeling.
