Due to circumstances out of my control (I won't go into what they are) I'm planning to get my own phone line along with fibre broadband from plusnet.

Since transferring the existing line is likely to be a complete pain to do (the account isn't in my name, and I'm likely to be mucked about even if I try), I'm having a new line put in and the quickest option (if the BTOR engineer take it) is to use the long since dead BT line as the spare pair is being used for the current line which is where my problems are likely to start as the current line as an active ADSL connection (that is likely to be shut down after I have my line installed) and from what I was told by virgin media (unless the person in retentions was talking bull or it only relates to ADSL connections) that you can only have one active broadband connection in a cable (as in only one pair in a cable can have an active broadband connection).

Is that actually true, or (as I suspect) was it just a bunch of lies from the person at virgin media to leave (or just something that only applies to ADSL connections)?

And don't suggest virgin media as a debt racked up by my sister is likely to stop me from singing up with my own name (my father only managed to get get TV from Telewest when the agent created an account with a different name) and I wouldn't touch their services with a bargepole now.
