Hi all,

Would this Homeplug solution work?

I live in a 3 level house (top floor/ground floor/basement). It’s an old stone built house.

My wireless router is on the top floor. I barely get a signal in my basement level – some places there is no signal.

Solution i'm thinking of .....

• I would have a Homeplug plugged into a wall socket next to my wifi router on the top floor (HOMEPLUG 1)
• I would run a network cable (CAT5e?) from my wifi router to HOMEPLUG 1
• I would have another Homeplug plugged into a wall socket on the ground floor (HOMEPLUG 2). This would be a Homeplug with a wifi transmitter on it
• I would then be able to pick up a wifi signal in my basement from HOMEPLUG2 as it is only has to travel a single floor to the basement below

..... would this work? would the Homeplug wireless transmitter likely be powerful enough?

Thanks for any help given,

Paul.

Thanks Sin.

So there is no issue with the power of the wifi transmitter on the Homeplug itself reaching a floor below? ie. is it just as powerful as the wifi transmitter on my router?

Paul.

it might be an idea to put your upstairs wireless on one channel, and your downstairs wireless on another... but you could keep the ssid, the crypto, and the key the same... i dont think you would be able to 'roam' between them, but it would allow you to do a quick re-connect and away you go.
