Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard

Intel i5 760

MSI GeForce GTX 480 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

im not that great and knowing whats compatible with what which is why i ask here

its good, the ddr5 refers to the gpus own memory.

what ddr3 are you going to use? for the motherboard.

ah ok cool is there anything else i need to be thinking about, would maybe get another gtx 480 when i get my bonus

so you want sli? will need a sli/crossfire capable motherboard, that one only offers 4X bandwidth to the second slot, and you will need a large wattage quality psu for two 480'
s.

well i wanted to have the option of sli if i make targets at work :D yeh, but if there is not a mobo around for it i guess i cant? and a corsair psu, would the 750 watt one be enough?

What's your overall budget? That would be a big help, and we can start putting some parts together for you that suit your needs :)

the more expensive UD4 does symmetrical sli, but the costs are just going up and up from your original plan.

keep those four items listed, and just forget about sli, one GTX480 is fast enough, and for two you would be better of with a psu closer to 900-1000w, which cost big bucks.

i wanted to spend £950-$1k tops, so no go sli? i can leave that i guess

but im looking an a bonus of 500ish thats why i wanted sli option

if you just use the retail heatsink that comes with the CPU will bring the cost down closer to 1k

or a i5 sli option.
