Will upgrading my ram from 16gb to 32gb 2133mhz ?

i cant add anymore sticks to the allready 16gb as i only have 4 ram slots on the Alienware x79 board .

When I upped from 4 to 8, I did it purely because I was toying with Virtual Machines a lot.

Apart from that, it was very much a waste of time.

When I upped from 8 to 16, I failed to find any justification for it. Perhaps the Video processing was helped out somewhat, and working on huge images in photoshop etc could do with it.

When I upped from 16 to 32 I realised that now, I had simply wasted a whole load of money just to show off.

My daughters PC has 24GB but thats only because its mixed RAM and her board seems to be happy with it.

all my other PCs have either 8 or 16GB and in truth... Even 8GB is more than the others actually need.

So, ask yourself... WTF do you need that much Ram for?

+1, is there something better you could use it for PC wise? Maybe put it towards a new GPU or second one for sli or xfire.

For pc gaming, moviee and day to day normal use you'll see absolutely no difference.
I second Oldphart suggestion. If you've got the itch to upgrade have a look at something else that would give you a noticeable performance hike. Ssd maybe?

To be honest there really is no point upping it to 32GB, as it wont be using much of it.

not worth it at all. I am using Samsung 4g 1333mhz x4 on my desktop and OC them to 2133mhz. I couldnt find the difference.
