Would you be disappointed if the new Tool album really is called 10,000 days?

Nope, thats why I didn't comment. I just wondered how the title of an album can sound fake.

It doesn't seem their style.

Check the names and tracklistings on their last two albums and see how it would be a strange departure from this trend if the new album title is true...

Also, when it was annouced it was sandwhiched with a comment about this album being Tool's "blues" album, which seem facecious to me. Couple that with the fact that the band tend to leak false information and it makes me unsure.

From a post I made on ToolNavy.com on the album title, having changed my mind on the quality of the title...

Anyone who knows a bit about the occult will know the references and some of the things that Tool depict in their music... I think that the references to Astrology are some of their most hard-hitting stuff and if that IS the connection then calling the album 10,000 days is not only appropriate but possibly very poignaint...

Don't know about Lost Keys and Rosetta Stoned though...

I don't really know enough about Astrology to go into it any further, but I will pick the brains of someone who does and hopeully post back in a few days...

Knowing the manner in which astrology can work, the Saturn Return might be a rough figure. But what it does signify is CHANGE and maturity.
I think that Change and Maturity would be an excellent idea for the new album

Astrology Rob Hand calls Saturn Return "one of the most important times in your life. . . a time of endings and new beginnings."

"For most of us, ending a phase of life that is familiar and embarking on one that is new and untried is unsettling, even painful. Few people describe Saturn Return as a pleasant period. While undergoing your Saturn Return you may find yourself turning inward and reflecting on your individual destiny. You examine your true needs and desires and the role you want to play on the world's stage. You may feel lonely and alienated from those around you, while family and friends think you are shutting them out. But this is a necessary period of consolidation, when you must retreat from the distractions of the outer world and focus on yourself at your most fundamental level. The Saturn Return is every individual's search for the Holy Grail."

Saturn Return is one of the most crucial turning points you ever experience, when you assume the greatest responsibility of all: responsibility for your own life.

Read that and tell me that "10,000 days" sucks or that Disturbed got there first, I read the supposed title and I thought it was a joke because it didn't fit with what I expected. Sometimes it pays to look deeper before opening your mouth.

Egypt represents a link to the hidden past, including mythology and spirituality. While it cannot be conclusively proved, much of the occult and spirituality most likely originated in Egypt (unless there are older civilisations that we have not found yet) and the concepts of rebirth and importance of the lifecycle were first portrayed in Egyptian belief system - and have been repeated in about every major religion or spiritual system since then. The egyptian understanding of the world, the universe and spirituality is second to none.

The reason that I was disappointed was that Tool titles were becoming completely 'blank' or 'abstract' - the word Lateralus means nothing outside of the associations we each make as we listen to the music, same thing with most titles off that album - whereas "10,000 days" could have other associations. I do like the idea that Tool titles try to exist outside existing constructions that we have with words, but if "10,000 days" has an important enough association already existing I am willing to trust Tool on that...
