Would you be interested in this?

I think you should use laser beams. With giant indoor reflector panels spraying laser radiation over the house through a series of tubes.

I would not go making a career out of the idea. If you wanted to do it as a side project with little or no investment due to you having the skills and equipment at home, I would say go for it.

Otherwise (if possible) I would just patent the idea and try license it. Would cost you a lot less in the long run. Obviously dependant on what is already available, a patent might not be granted.

Scottish power offer something similar which allows you to turn stuff on and off from your phone. Also transmits usage data so you can see how much was being used.

Yep you're right, the Unifi. http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/getunifi/

Never seen this before. Seems to have had a good uptake for Scottish Power. You got to be a customer of theirs first.

Btw people, this is not my product, i've not put a penny towards development or anything. I have been asked to explore sales opportunities in UK market is all. Its kind of already in my area of business in energy management.

Yeah, I like the idea of usage state from all the sockets but I'm not paying what they want for each socket. I'm already good with my leccy so it would take a decade to be worthwhile

A faceplate that has the required gubbins in to just transmit usage data would be cool. Don't care about turning stuff off any more remotely than from within the room though.
